About the role

As a member of the Engineering Team you will be creating a scalable architecture and extending the existing system. You will work directly with testers and product managers to ensure quality development practices are followed to create the best possible products.

As our Principal Python Backend Engineer, these are the things you will do:

  • Solve our most challenging engineering problems
  • Have an engineering-wide impact and influence architectural discussions
  • Help define and refine the practices and processes that make us effective
  • Introduce standards and promote engineering best practices in the areas of software architecture, design, development, delivery, and deployment across the entire engineering organization
  • Take the lead on initiatives supporting the development of your team by preparing and running training sessions, supporting the hiring process, and mentoring others

About you

What we're looking for:

  • Working experience in a technical leadership role (principal/staff engineer, lead engineer, or similar)
  • Understanding of the bigger picture and engage with other teams for the best results
  • Extensive experience in our tech stack, including Python, MySql/Postgres, Kubernetes, and Terraform, in production projects building products and services
  • An in-depth understanding of the entire web development process (design, development, and deployment)
  • The ability to be hands on when needed but also have the experience to lead on technical architecture/product architecture decisions
  • The ability to switch and prioritize tasks using your own initiative
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills
  • A master’s/bachelor’s degree, preferably in an information technology field
