The Opportunity

Join the team that is proving the value of the new healthcare system. Hinge Health is on a mission to create a patient-centered digital clinic that not only improves clinical outcomes but also drives significant financial savings. As a Senior Data Scientist in the ROI Identification & Measurement Pod, you will sit at the heart of our commercial value proposition. You won’t just analyze data—you will architect the automated engines and predictive models that prove our economic impact to the world’s largest employers and health plans. If you are passionate about using causal inference and massive datasets to drive company-wide strategy, this is your opportunity to build the "truth engine" of our business.

What You'll Accomplish

  • In your first 3 months: You will dive into our data foundations, mastering our modern stack (Databricks, dbt, Tuva Project). You will partner with health economists to audit our current claims analysis pipeline and begin designing robust dbt models to clean and normalize raw medical claims into a unified schema.

  • In your first 6 months: You will ship high-impact predictive models. You will build propensity score matching models to establish causal impact and develop risk-prediction engines that identify high-risk members for targeted clinical interventions.

  • In your first year: You will be the architect of our scalable ROI measurement engine. You will translate complex analytical findings into clear, defensible insights that drive strategic decisions for Product, Marketing, and Customer Success, ultimately maximizing the economic value we deliver to our clients.

Who You Are

  • A Causal Detective: You don't just report numbers; you uncover the "why." You have deep experience with causal inference and A/B testing, and you thrive on solving complex challenges like establishing causality in observational data.

  • A Strategic Builder: You embody our "Hustle" value by finding creative ways to transform raw, messy healthcare data into clear ROI insights. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and can architect automated solutions that scale.

  • A Collaborative Communicator: You bridge the gap between technical complexity and business impact. You communicate effectively with health economists, engineers, and product leaders to align on shared goals and drive data-driven decision-making.

Basic Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, or a related technical field.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience working with large datasets to solve business problems and generate decision-making insights.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in SQL and Python or R for data analysis.

  • Methodological Depth: Proven experience with causal inference and A/B testing.

  • Domain Knowledge: Prior experience in healthcare analytics or health economics with claims or clinical data.

Preferred Requirements

  • Advanced Modeling: Knowledge of machine learning techniques for predictive modeling and recommendation systems.

  • Modern Data Stack: Hands-on experience with data transformations in dbt and the Tuva Project (or similar open-source healthcare frameworks).

  • AI Tooling: Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code).

  • Data Storytelling: Strong visualization skills and the ability to communicate complex data to non-technical stakeholders.
