About the Role:

Are you our new Workshop Technician / CNC Operator?

At Lace Lithography, we are developing a brand-new production method for manufacturing microchips. We are based in Bergen and Barcelona, backed by some of the world's most ambitious investors.

We are looking for an independent and solution-oriented CNC Operator and Workshop Technician. Here, you will become part of a two-person team alongside our current workshop technician. You will work closely together to run the workshop, brainstorm technical solutions, and deliver critical components to our R&D and hardware teams.

This is a distinct R&D and prototyping role. Daily life with us is dynamic, and you must thrive working in close proximity to our research projects. This means you will often need to pivot on short notice to produce, adapt, or fine-tune prototypes based on ideas that emerge in real time - here, you get to help shape the solutions rather than simply following a fixed order list.

We have just ordered a brand-new Heidenhain-controlled 5-axis CNC machine, and we are looking for someone who thrives in the intersection between practical workshop tasks, CAM programming, and creating the prototypes of tomorrow.

Key Responsibilities:

• CAM Programming & 5-Axis CNC Machining: Programming and operating our new 5-axis CNC mill to manufacture unique precision components, jigs, and prototypes for the hardware team.

• Close Collaboration with R&D: Working cross-functionally with our research projects to translate ideas and sketches into physical test components on short notice.

• Two-Person Workshop Management: Collaborating on daily operations, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance across CNC equipment, laser cutters, and other machinery.

• Laser Cutting: Operating laser cutters for rapid prototyping and part customization.

• Laser Welder: Operating laser welder for rapid prototyping and part customization.

• Daily Operations & Maintenance: Ensuring optimal operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance for the CNC machine, laser cutter, and other workshop facilities.

• Inventory Management & Logistics: Goods receipt, organizing the workshop layout, and logging parts and components.

• HSE & Documentation: Ensuring the workshop complies with Norwegian HSE standards, participating in safety inspections (vernerunder), and maintaining equipment service histories.
  

Required Qualifications:

• CAM Expertise: 2+ years of experience with CAM programming and CNC milling. Which specific CAM software you have used is not critical; what matters most is a strong process understanding, toolpaths, cutting parameters, and machining strategies. Experience with 5-axis machining is a major plus.

• Trade Certificate: Trade certificate as a CNC operator, mechanic (industrial, agricultural, or automotive), industrial assembler, precision mechanic, or equivalent. Significant and relevant experience can compensate for the lack of a formal trade certificate.

• Practical & Mechanical Experience: Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and mechanical/electrical machine maintenance. Experience with Heidenhain CNC control systems is a clear advantage. Experience with (or interest in) 3D printing is also a plus.

• Driver's License: Class B driver’s license and forklift certificate.

• Languages: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
